Book discussion: "Les études européennes. Genèses et institutionnalisation"
The book "Les études européennes. Genèses et institutionnalisation” was published in June 2019. Prepared by Professors Michel Mangenot (Paris-VIII University), Sylvain Schirmann (Strasbourg University) and Fabrice Larat (ENA, Strasbourg), it compiles the proceedings of two international conferences which took place in 2014 and 2016. By examining the conditions of emergence and the forms of institutionalisation of European studies in academia after WWII, this book develops for the first time a systematic approach to their genesis and diffusion. It also analyses the potential interactions between academia and European civil servants. Consisting of papers written by historians, lawyers and political scientists, it shows why and how an integrated Europe is also the result of politico-academic production.
