Programme

12:30 Official opening and ribbon cutting

13.00 - 18.00 ‘REAL FLOOR STAFF’ - Performance by artistic collective K.A.K

(English, French, Dutch)

10 members of K.A.K. – the Koekelbergse Alliantie van Knutselaars – will perform in and around the exhibition throughout the event: facilitators will guide you through this world on the border of fake and real. ‘Be sure to be safe. Be sure (not) to believe everything we tell you. While fighting The Fake, we secure reality and mystify security.’

K.A.K. is an eclectic group of comedians, tinkerers, musicians, thinkers and other resourceful people. Together, they invent their own alternative conditions and ways of creating, and open a platform for dialogue and exchange with each other and with others. They have been recently developing theatrical projects around the idea of fiction and reality, truth and fake, and the limits between both.

14:00 - 17:00: Tableaux vivants by Blast Projekt

(English, French, Dutch)

Enter inside the painting... Enter the scene, turn around the characters, get inside the scenery, feel the materials, immortalise this moment with a photo, this is the unique experience that Blast Projekt has been offering since 2007 with its “tableaux vivants”... The painting is no longer an object of contemplation, it is in front of you, deployed in a third dimension, which invites you to take part.

Blastprojekt was founded by the artist Patricia Barakat. The aim of the association is to realise multidisciplinary projects mixing performance, theatre, circus, dance, plastic arts. At the same time, it offers theatre workshops Body/Play/Matter.

17.45: Movie screening

19.15: Discussion with Czech Dream director Filip Remunda and film maker and lecturer An van Dienderen (TBC)

Watch the movie and the discussion live on the House of European History YouTube channel and take part in the Q&A session at the end of the discussion.

‘Czech Dream’ is a 2004 documentary film directed by two Czech film directors, Vít Klusák and Filip Remunda. It recorded a large-scale hoax carried out by Klusák and Remunda on the Czech public, culminating in the opening event of a fake hypermarket. Remunda and Klusák invented the ‘Czech Dream’ hypermarket and created a massive advertising campaign around it. Posing as businessmen, they managed to persuade an ad agency and a public relations agency to create a campaign for them. Did people believe in it and show up for the grand opening?
