The House of European History is organising a debate in collaboration with the Coudenberg Palace.

The speakers will debate the idea of Brussels as an international capital in the historical long-term. Can we say that Brussels became a European capital with the development of a high-level court from the 15th Century? How did this international role of Brussels develop through centuries? How could we define Brussels as a European capital today? What does this international role mean for its inhabitants? Discover four different points of views by four Brussels personalities active in the fields of history and creation.

Speakers:

Chloé Deligne - Historian, Université Libre de Bruxelles

Roel Jacobs - Historian, author

Grażyna Plebanek - Writer, playwright, columnist

Dirk Snauwaert - Director of WIELS
