The fashion sector is one of the most polluting, and in the space of a few decades, fast fashion has only amplified the phenomenon. In an attempt to curb this unrestrained consumption, the second-hand and reuse market appears to be the ideal alternative. But doesn't this market also have its flaws?

Sandrine Counson is a fashion historian and teacher at Helmo (Liège, Belgium). She manages the non-profit organisation Slow31, a circular economy project that includes a barter store and clothing rental.

This conference is co-organised by the Musée de la vie wallonne and the Maison de l'histoire européenne as part of the European partnership on the history of waste "Throwaway - the history of a modern crisis".
